Lidl fruit trees

A couple of days ago, we were in Lidl shopping for Bockwurst and other essential food items when we discovering they were selling fruit trees at £3.99.

We bought five – the four ones on the photo and a Cox Orange. I’m a bit concerned it’s a bit early in the year, but we’ll see.

They also had plenty of berries, so we bought red and black currants, gooseberries, blueberries, raspberries and brambles.

Yummy!

Buying a house

The house we’re buying

My two-bedroom flat in the city centre has felt a little bit crowded ever since Phyllis, Marcel, Charlotte and Léon moved in last year, and it’s not been ideal for Marcel and Charlotte to live so far from their school.

What with Bart arriving in December (no, we’ll find another name before then!), things were not going to get any better, so we were happy when we found a house in Newton Mearns with enough rooms for us all.

Phyllis has taken some nice photos of it.

Family room 597 216 12.89

We’re thinking about making a new kitchen in the family room, and having three bathrooms with bathtubs is somewhat over the top, so we might do something about that, too.

The rooms listed above add up to 110 m2, but the survey claims the house altogether is 160 m2.

More about pizza ovens

My pizza baking was such a success that Phyllis has been talking getting our own pizza oven in our future garden.

Fortunately, after I blogged about pizza baking in my parents’ cellar, Google Ads placed a pizza-oven ad in the corner of this blog, and when I clicked on the link, I eventually ended up on this page.

It’s really a beautiful oven, and it’s nice there’s a BBQ, too, but £1500 (DKK 16,570) is a lot of money for a DIY oven. Perhaps we can just design and build one on our own instead?

Or maybe this Mexican pizza oven is a better idea?

New flowers

My beautiful cornflowers and herbs died while I was on holiday (I hadn’t really anticipated a heat wave in Glasgow), and rather than starting from seeds again, I just went to B&Q and bought some “ready-made” flowers. They’re quite pretty, although a bit tame for my taste.
