Kimchi soup
When I started studying Japanese back in 1990, my grandmother Idith sometimes bought me some oriental noodle soups. They were really spicy – my eyes were watering and my nose was running – but I really enjoyed them.
However, one day the shop she bought them in closed down, and I never got my soups again. Since then I’ve often bought oriental noodle soups, but I never seemed to be able to find the right taste again.
On Easter Day, however, I went down to Chinatown with Phyllis, and in the Chinese food shop I bought a Korean kimchi soup. And this is it! It’s not quite as spicy as the soup of my youth, but it’s definitely the taste I’ve been searching for.
Yummy!
